Independence Day Speech for Students
Today is the special day in Indian history as it is the day we got independence. India was under control of English countries for more than 200 years. They occupied our country and ruled themselves. We got freedom from them on Aug 15th 1947. And this das is been celebrating as Independence Day in India. It is a national holiday and religious people in India actively participate in this event to make it successful. On this day, our Prime Minister hoists our national flag at Red Fort in capital city Delhi. This has become a custom which is been celebrating from 1947 by hoisting flag by our honorable Prime Minister. Our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted flag on August 15th, 1947 at Red Fort in the presence of Mahatma Gandhi.
In olden days India was completely control of British people. We don’t have right to celebrate festivals also. We need to pay huge amount taxes and should get permission from them. Our fore fathers used to pay taxes to them for staying in our own country. Not only this we are forced to use foreign products with high price instead of using products made by us. They started earning like anything by launching many steel industries in India. They made India as source of their earnings and made Indians as slaveries in their industries with low wages. People who stood against were recklessly put into jails and punishing. Great leaders like Bhagat Singh, Subash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and many people fought for getting freedom from such slavery activities. Today we are here celebrating this event is because of great leaders sacrifice. It is our responsibility to save India from coming attacks and stood stand first like our great leaders. We must be thankful for them and it is the best time to remember all of them who fought for the country. Some leaders died during the war and remained in history even they died.
After Independence, India is proving itself in all aspect like technology, sports. We have our own rights of freedom and we should feel proud to be an Indian. Today we are here in this position after great struggling of many people. We are celebrating Independence as a symbol of showing that we are ahead in many activities. India is now a days got best name in IT sector also. In sports like Olympics and Common Wealth Games India stood in top 5 places. If this continues definitely India is going to become a developed country within no time. As students we should be responsible to maintain the same speed growth in all sectors and should be ready to fight for the country at any time. On this day, Delhi Parade grounds look like feast for eyes with mist innovative cultural activities.
